Project Spotlight: Chickasaw Wind Debut Brings New Opportunities to Chickasaw County
Chickasaw Wind, in Chickasaw County, IA, will produce 200 megawatts of renewable energy, which is enough to power over 65,000 American homes while investing $152 Million annually in local taxes, land costs, lease payments, and wages and benefits.
“We installed 66 turbines in northern Chickasaw County with two different turbine types to make up the 200 MW of capacity,” remarked lead project developer, Isaac Lamppa. “MidAmerican Energy Company, Iowa’s largest public utility, purchased the wind energy center in spring of 2023. Invenergy’s first wind project in Iowa was Victory Wind in Carroll County, 99 MW, and Chickasaw is our 15th wind project in Iowa!”
